Therapy for Depression and Anxiety

Anxiety

Common experiences when struggling with anxiety include:

  • feeling constantly overwhelmed and worried about everything

  • unable to control worries

  • feeling riddled with self doubt and overanalyzing every little thing

  • feeling exhausted

  • constantly thinking about worst-case scenarios

  • unable to relax, be at ease, or constantly on edge

  • difficulty sleeping even when baby is sleeping

  • not eating enough

  • avoiding activities or people

Many mothers or fathers experience anxiety starting in pregnancy or after the birth of a baby. Anxiety can have a significant impact on your feelings about yourself, your bonding with the baby, your relationship with others, and your baby's development. With treatment, you can feel more at ease and confident as a mother.

Depression

Common experiences when struggling with depression include:

  • unable to motivate yourself

  • struggling to care for yourself and/or baby

  • crying all the time

  • isolating yourself

  • difficulty enjoying parenthood

  • feeling like a bad parent all the time or steeped in negative thoughts

  • difficulty sleeping when the baby sleeps or sleeping too much

  • overeating, not eating enough or only eating unhealthy food

  • feeling hopeless

  • feeling like the baby would be better off if you weren't around or suicidal thoughts

Postpartum depression can start during pregnancy as well as after birth. Depression can be a debilitating condition that disrupts the bond with your baby and can interfere with your baby's development. Through therapy, you can feel joy and be the mom you want to be.
